Christo and Jeanne-Claude
Wrapped

Christo and Jeanne-Claude's works — much in the same way as Basquiat’s scribbled-out words — make us want to see behind the curtain. To begin, their scale goes beyond the boundaries of poetic ideas and physical art, giving a second skin to structures and nature. It is a material form of light, and creates something between what catches the eye and what is hidden; a creation of the mind that transforms reality. In a perverse way, by wrapping or obscuring the structures and landscapes, he makes us want to see them — and appreciate them — all the more.
